Final Week for Challenge #34

This is the last week for you to get your entries in for the April Challenge - incorporate a bird/animal and work in pastel colours for the TWIST.

This week we have some inspiration from Margaret again - a scrap page layout using pastel background papers and incorporating an animal as well as her pretty granddaughters!

Those ears are just too cute!

Our guest designer for the month has been Tory Botham

who has made an amazing three projects for our challenge in April. This is her last one!

Isn't that the most adorable bear.

Our wonderful Sponsor for this month has been REGAL CRAFT:

Just an alert to a change in the way things are done - I will be announcing the prize winner and the DT Favourite in the second week of the challenge rather than at the same time as setting up the new challenge. This gives us time at the DT to work out our winner and Favourite, without being rushed into things.

So, one week to go - so, lets see what you can make using your creativity and NO STAMPS.

MIDWAY POSTING FOR #CHALLENGE 34

The challenge for April is to create a paper based project - card or scrap or similar - and to do it without using a stamp AND incorporating in it either a bird or an animal!

There is also a TWIST - to use pastel colours!

Our wonderful Sponsor this month is REGAL CRAFT:

The very wonderful DT here have created some more beautiful inspiration for you but before we look at that, we have a guest designer this month

Our Guest Designer in April is
Victoria Botham

Hi everyone, I’m Victoria (although usually known as Tor or VeryBelleMakes!) and I’m from Essex, England. I am a stay-at-home mum to two great children, aged 7 and 4. I’m also really lucky to be supported and encouraged by a very patient husband, who regularly has to wade through a ton of glitter just to make it to his desk next to mine!

I have enjoyed card-making since my early twenties; I drifted away a bit when my son was small, as there were never enough hours in the day, but now that the children are a little more independent, I’m enjoying picking up where I left off!

Thank you very much to Susan and the Unstampabelles team for having me as a Guest Designer this month!

They are just so cute!!

Now, for the DT work!

Julene has made a  birthday card

Jane on 'beeing' happy!

Margaret - provided two items for midway: a card
Using Kaiser craft paper,  chipboard tag from Unique Paper Graphics Graphic 45 chipboard tags which were free with a magazine and happy birthday sticker.

Plus scrapbook page using Easter papers

Susan using freebies from magazine; egg die; letter dies - Regal Press card blank

Tracey using a Penny Black Christmas sticker and dollar store sentiment sticker...who says Christmas can't be pastel!

Deanne

Well,  there you have it folks - and all that time over the Easter break too - so why not have a go at a card or page or paper item for our current challenge! Looking forward to seeing what you create.

You are very welcome Tor - and your work is amazing! Just look at this card!

I love those die cut rabbits and their tails!

Now the DT here at Unstampabelles are also pretty darn good too, and here are the pieces they have produced to inspire you for this challenge!

 JanR
Mr. Bunny is on an Action Wobble.

She loves retro and vintage styles, so opted to work with some retro collage sheets.

She likes a bit of bling, so the pastel blue dragonfly is keeping the chipboard bunny company.

Love the butterflies

Margaret's card uses a sticker

An easel card

Pretty colours

and

Rabbits and Easter always go together in our house!

If you follow the links from the DT's name to their posts on their blogs you can find out more about how the card was made.  Your entry does not have to be a card - it can be anything that follows the theme and is paper base and has not used stamps - digital, rubber or cling!  It does not have to be an Easter theme, but if you need to get another card done using that theme, be our guest!

Just remember, your project has to have an animal or a bird in it, and if you are going to add the TWIST you need to work in mainly PASTEL colours.

Congratulations Tracey!

Now, as well as announcing the winners, I have to announce a farewell to one of our team members and a welcome to a new member of the team.

Sarah from My Paperpie has been a member for over a year now, and in that time she has been very creative and produced a beautiful,  amazing little boy called Eli, whom we have watched growing like a little weed over the past few months. He is now nearly walking and probably talking up a storm as well, and crafting time has been greatly diminished for Sarah! As well as that, Sarah is a spouse of a serving military man who has been overseas but is due to return home shortly. We at Unstampabelles know that family always come first, and so we wish them all much happiness and success in this newest phase of their life and will hopefully see Sarah having a go in our challenges over time - or when Eli is asleep!

Do not despair - we have been able to obtain the gain the talents of a wonderful Australian crafter to help us out - please welcome to the team Jane Howden from Scrap Pieces of Me.

My Photo

Hi I'm Jane, a busy wife and mother - scrapbooker - family history researcher - taxi driver to my two wonderful children - chief cook and bottle washer (and I wouldn't have it any other way).

We welcome Jane to the team and look forward to seeing her work

Remember, working without using stamps (digital or rubber or cling, and that includes sentiments) requires a lot of ingenuity and thinking outside the proverbial square, but when I flick through the various crafty magazines I see so many examples of just that - a paper project created without using stamps or sometimes with a sentiment only stamped on them.  This sentiment can be hand-written, or computer generated or made using rub-ons or stickers or printed items or with letter dies or words. Images can be created by dies, or photographs or images from 12 x 12 papers, or hand drawn.  (Look at the amazing guitar drawn by hand by entrant Number 4 Rock Star in our last challenge!)

An example might be the cards on page 47/48 of Australian Papercraft Essentials magazine  - No 35, the latest edition. Starting on page 23, Leanne Sue Tin creates some Mother's Day items using the free gift with the magazine, and while I think there are two or three small stamps (which could be swapped out for stickers or rub-ons), she has created five pages of wonderful work.  On page 47 and using Kaisercraft papers The Looking Glass, Karen George has created some stunning cards and a small booklet. There are no or few stamps to be seen here. On page 60 Kim Dellow shows us how to create our own lettering using a variety of techniques.  On page 66 Jo Kill uses sequins in her card making and there are no stamps used in three pages of projects! This is just one magazine this month! So, get out there and look and CAS and have a go and enter our April challenge! Coming to this blog on Monday 7th April!!
